Stamping in the friction and mechanical transmission compared to the friction, has the following characteristics:

(1) friction at high pressure. Stamping the contact surface of the unit pressure is very large, the general hot surface pressure when the 100 ~ 150MPa, cold processing can be as high as 500 ~ 2500MPa. However, the machine bearing, the contact surface pressure is usually only 20 ~ 50MPa, so high pressure so that the lubricant is difficult to bring into or easily from the deformation zone extrusion, lubrication and lubrication methods are particularly difficult.

(2) friction at higher temperatures. In the case of stamping drawing, the interface temperature condition is bad. For thermal processing, according to the different metal, the temperature between several hundred degrees to more than 1000 degrees, for cold processing, due to deformation of thermal effects, the surface friction heat, the temperature can reach a high degree. High temperature metal materials, in addition to internal changes in the organization and performance, the metal surface to be oxidized, to bring a great impact on the friction and lubrication.

(3) with the stamping deformation caused by friction, in the process of deformation due to deformation under high pressure, will continue to increase the new contact surface, so that the contact between the tool and metal conditions continue to change. Contact surface around the stamping flow is different, and some sliding, and some sticky, and some fast, and some slow, so in the contact surface of the friction is not the same.

(4) the friction pair (metal and tools) the nature of the difference between the general tools are hard and require no use in the stamping deformation; and metal not only much more flexible than the tool, and hope that a greater stamping deformation. (5) deterioration of the workpiece surface quality, speed up the mold wear and reduce tool life. The relative sliding acceleration tool wear between the contact surfaces during the press forming; the tool wear is increased by the friction heat; the unevenness of the deformation and the stress also accelerates the tool wear. Friction during forming can be divided into dry friction, boundary friction and fluid friction according to its nature, as follows:

1. Dry friction

Dry friction refers to the friction between the metal and the contact surface of the tool when no external medium is present. But in the actual production, this absolutely ideal dry friction is not there. Because the metal stamping process, the surface of the existence of the number of oxide film, or adsorption of some gas and dust and other media. But usually said dry friction refers to the friction state without lubricant.

2. Fluid friction

When the lubricating layer between the metal and the tool surface is thicker, the friction pair is not in direct contact with each other and is completely separated by a lubricating oil film, and friction occurs between the molecules of the fluid as fluid friction. It is different from the dry friction, the size of the friction and the surface of the contact surface has nothing to do, but with the fluid viscosity, velocity gradient and other factors. So the friction coefficient of the fluid friction is very small. Stamping tension in the contact surface pressure and temperature is high, so that the lubricant is often easy to squeeze out or burned, so the fluid friction only in the condition of the occurrence and role.

3. Border friction

This is a friction between dry friction and fluid friction, known as boundary friction.

In the actual production, due to poor friction conditions, the ideal fluid lubrication state is difficult to achieve. In addition, in the stamping drawing, whether it is the surface of the tool, or the surface of the blank, can not be "clean" surface, always in the medium surrounded, there is always a layer of deposited film adsorbed on the surface, this film It may be a natural contaminated film, a metal film formed by oily adsorption, a boundary film formed by physical adsorption, and a chemical reaction film formed by a lubricant. So the ideal dry friction can not exist. In fact, it is often the mixed friction of the above three friction coexistence. It can be semi-dry friction can also be semi-fluid friction. Semi-dry friction is a mixture of boundary friction and dry friction. This friction occurs when there is a small amount of lubricant or other medium between the contact surfaces. Semi-fluid friction is a mixture of fluid friction and boundary friction. When there is a layer of lubricant between the contact surface, in the deformation of individual parts will occur in contact with each other dry friction.
